The focus of Senior Organizational Development Consultant is on faciliating both strategic and organizational change. Responsibilities of this position include providing organizational development and effectiveness performance consulting for both departmental and high-level, complex enterprise-wide projects and initiatives. This is accomplished through strategic vision and goal development, needs assessment and diagnosis, role and responsibility clarification, leadership and team development, coaching, and design and implementation of process and performance interventions. Responsibilities also include management of career development, mentoring, change management and job rotational programs. In this role, the consultant collaborates closely with HR partners, business clients, sponsors and project team members to ensure alignment and integration of strategies, projects and programs for successful implementation.
Key Accountabilities:
Conduct needs analysis of individual, team and leader development requests from vice-presidents, directors and department managers; clarify performance issues and provide targeted recommendations
Manage corporate-wide development programs including divisional rotational development programs, career management, and mentoring programs
Design and develop workshops and interventions for performance improvement through action learning, team-based coaching and consultation, and leadership development
Administer and debrief individual and team assessment instruments including Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Leadership Effectiveness Analysis, and DiSC Profile
Provide coaching to department heads and managers on performance and associate issues as well as individual and team development and career planning
Educate and assist leaders and associates to implement processes and initiatives including Talent Management, Individual Development Planning, Career Planning, Performance Management, and Titling processes.
Challenges/Problem Solving:
Align recommended solutions to organizational and business strategies and practices
Assess requests and determine whether solutions are training or OD focused
Decision Making Authority:
Ability to act independently to prescribe solutions to support strategic initiatives
Leadership Responsibilities:
Budget responsibilities in regards to vendor selection and negotiations
Project Management responsibilities for corporate-wide development initiatives that are linked to corporate strategy, as well as managing support to assigned business areas
Advise senior leaders on OD and development issues
Coach senior and mid-level leaders on effective leadership behaviors
Ensure that initiatives align with HR strategy
Represent BCBSMA at community programs and events
Qualifications:(knowledge/skills/abilities/behaviors)
Experience in building organizational, team, and individual capacities through needs analysis, strategic OD interventions, instructional design, training and facilitation, and program evaluation.
Proven ability to effectively identify client needs, and to design and facilitate customized, engaging, results-oriented interventions to improve performance and support business goals.
Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships
Strong project management skills
Conflict resolution skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Advanced planning and organizational skills
Problem solving abilities
Analytical and decision making skills
5 to 7 years of experience in OD, HR and/or training in a corporate environment
BA required
