Temporary HR Generalist

GENERAL SUMMARY

 

This is a temporary (approx. 9 months) position responsible for providing human resources (HR) services to assigned business units/departments and acting as the liaison and central point-of-contact between business units and the Human Resources organization.  Responsibilities include workforce planning, compensation and benefits, employee relations, labor relations, recruiting, affirmative action, training and development, performance management, design/administration of HR policies/and other related issues/projects. Work involves performing difficult and complex services requiring a high level of independent judgement, initiative and discretion. Work is mainly self-directed, with work results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

? Serves as confidential advisor to management, supervisors and employees

? Advises and counsels leaders and employees on the interpretation/application of company policies and procedures and collective bargaining agreements

? Provides guidance and recommendation to leaders on performance management, employee relations, salary administration, and other complex and highly sensitive human resources issues

? Provides intervention services of a moderately complex level

? Supports manager in various special projects and initiatives

? Work with partners at all levels to proactively address issues that impact employee satisfaction, retention and productivity

? Processes Workers? Compensation claims; coordinates program activities with employee, insurance company and doctor; maintains system in accordance with State laws

? Maintains related employee benefit programs; insures compliance, processing payments and employee changes as set forth in the benefit contracts

? Processes all new hire paperwork, including benefits

? Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations

? Engages in Due Diligence activities as necessary to support growth/acquisition strategy of business

? Handles confidential and sensitive information.

? Completes statistical analysis and reports on personnel issues and makes appropriate presentations

? Creates and maintains descriptions and completes wage and benefit surveys

? Assists in reviewing and developing departmental policies and procedures

? Conducts exit interviews

? Performs all other related duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university with a major in human resources, business or public administration and five years experience in human resources to provide for the following:

? Knowledge of a broad range of HR-related functions with in-depth expertise in at least one functional area, which may include benefits, recruiting, compensation, employee relations, or labor relations

? Knowledge of the fundamentals of general human resources management of recruitment, selection, training, and employee relations

? Working knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations and professional best practices.

? Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills

? Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite human resources information systems (ADP, PeopleSoft, SAP experience preferred), and internet-based services and applications

? Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate and mediate on moderately complex HR related issues

? Ability to efficiently handle competing priorities and tasks, remain organized and meet deadlines

? Ability to establish and maintain confidential and effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, management and the general public

? Ability to negotiate, mediate and resolve substantial employee conflicts arising from a multitude of sources

? Ability to gather and analyze data and prepare reports

? Ability to establish goals, set priorities and meet deadlines

? Ability to travel 20%
