Workers Compensation Program Manager
Job Description: Solectron's Corporate Human Resources Total Rewards organization is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a new opening as a Human Resources Representative directly supporting workers' compensation programs.
Under indirect supervision, coordinates, administers, and oversees worker's compensation program within the United States and Puerto Rico. Manages injury and illness occurrences, both occupational and non-occupational. Manages data to determine need for loss control programs. Implements, and administers worker's compensation and non-occupational return to work programs for all sites within the United States and Puerto Rico.
Reviews, investigates, and makes decisions regarding compensability and appropriateness of claims. Overseas the processing and documentation of all workers compensation claims, ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and legislation. Acts as company authority on workers compensation policies and legislative provisions and counsels with management. Provides liaison with and advisement to external agencies and regulatory bodies. Maintains working relationships with workers compensation insurance providers, monitoring claims and other programs for cost containment. Provides direct supervision for Workers Compensation Analysts and acts as a point of escalation on necessary cases.
Coordinates and participates in strategic planning. Reviews safety reports, trend injury statistics, and analyzes accident and illness statistics. With Safety, ensures that OSHA and other state and federal required documentation and reporting requirements are maintained. Makes strategic recommendations for reducing the frequency and severity of losses through the use of a worker's compensation database and/or other claims data reports; designs and develops data bases, performs integrated data analyses, and prepares reports. Coordinates and participates in regularly scheduled claim reviews with worker's compensation carrier.
Assembles appropriate medical information and facts regarding claims for cases pending litigation; represents company at mediation and formal hearings or trials if applicable. Administers formal return-to-work program for non-occupational and occupational injuries and illnesses, which includes compliance with regulatory and internal guidelines, maintain measurements for program effectiveness. Oversees, recommends and implements cost containment programs for managed care, litigation management and temporary alternative duty assignment.
Ideal candidate has 5 - 7 years of experience in worker's compensation claims management coupled with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field. Masters is a plus. Prefer experience with managing a multi-state worker's compensation management program for 5 years with direct supervision of worker's compensation claims management staff.
Knowledge of the worker's compensation and disability insurance industry product offerings and be able to assist in the annual Company product selection process. Familiar with the workers compensation rules, laws and regulations in all states and territories of the United States
Experience with interacting with attorneys, medical practitioners, medical office staff and state regulatory agency personnel. Demonstrated experience in the implementation and administration of a comprehensive occupational and non-occupational early return to work program.
