06-150 Director, Operations & Systems Administration

GENERAL FUNCTION The Director, Operations & Systems Administration is responsible for the development and day‑to‑day operations of Luxottica Retail?s Data Center facilities and Systems Administration group.  This position manages the scheduling, operation, and control of all data processing activities for Luxottica Retail.  Additionally, this position oversees all Data Center systems administration, installation and maintenance and coordinates capacity planning and procurement of computer hardware with the AVP, Technical Services to support the division's corporate Data Centers.  This position is similar to the Senior Manager position but has broader business focus and a stronger involvement in department-wide activities.  The Director position has also achieved a more proficient level of technical and project management expertise and has more years of experience in managing a multiple platform data center environment. A significant majority of these requirements must be accomplished to meet the overall requirements of the position.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

? System Planning:

? Conduct user interviews for computer equipment needs

? Work closely with systems development staff and management to project new and ongoing application infrastructure requirements.

? Work with hardware vendors and IT staff to establish a comprehensive Data Center capacity plan

? Take a leadership role in planning the Data Center portion of the corporate technical plan.

? Work with the PMO and IT Management on resource planning for large and small projects.

? Develop and implement a comprehensive Disaster Recovery/Business Continuance plan

? Data Center Operations

? Develops, in conjunction with the user community, service level objectives that are realistic and meet the enterprise business requirements.

? Monitor and maintain a high level of Data Center performance via departmental service level agreements.  Make recommendations and implement corrective measures where appropriate to meet our service level agreements.

? Develop and implement ITIL-based Data Center controls and procedures to ensure the timeliness and quality of Data Center operations.  These controls include Change Management, Problem Management, Incident Management and Production Scheduling.

? Hardware and Software ? Data Center 

? Maintain industry knowledge of relevant IT products and technologies relative to Luxottica Retail environment and direction.

? Evaluate new software packages & hardware components as required within Luxottica Retail

? Prepare proposals & recommendations for purchase or build of hardware and software as appropriate.

? Support equipment and technology requests by assessing business need and working with IT and the user community for cost efficient and timely solutions. 

? Coordinate and execute all activities from user requests through acquisition and complete installation and follow-up.  Set expectations and follow up on a consistent and timely basis.

? Where appropriate work as partners with other IT groups, user departments and divisions on Data Center technology.

? Manage the Data Center capital budget planning process and work with IT and management to prioritize spending.

? Own and lead Special Projects as directed

? Takes a lead role in the planning and implementation of new IT systems and initiatives

SPECIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

? Technology ? strong working knowledge of the following technologies and standards:

? iSeries, AS/400

? pSeries, AIX, Linux

? DASD ? EMC hardware and software

? Backup/Restore ? BRMS, TSM

? Application Server ? BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere

? Automated Scheduling ? BMC Control M

? Excellent understanding of all technical architecture and components (hardware and software) within the Luxottica Retail network

? SOX, HIPAA, CISP and PCI-based Security standards

? ITIL concepts and procedures

? Strong level of proficiency with the use of system management tools

? Able to work with users in coordinating their processing needs

SPECIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE

? 10 to 15 years IT and business-related experience

? 5 years Data Center Management experience

? 5 years Project Management Experience

? 5 years in personnel management responsibility

? Prior experience in a multiple platform data center environment

? Supervisory experience required

 

SPECIFICATIONS - EDUCATION

? Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

? Masters preferred
