Project Manager

 

The Project Manager (PM) serves as a resource, consultant, and advisor in regards to the principles and processes of effective project management and their application to the formulation, planning, and implementation of projects within the Information Technology department.  The PM advises management in the formulation and planning stages of new projects and provides guidance to the staff/teams that are responsible for conducting projects.  These projects often cut across or involve cooperation with the major line components of the company and its affiliates and impact important constituencies in the financial, production, distribution, supply chain, retail, and other business entities. The PM tracks and assesses the progress of ongoing projects and alerts officials to issues that need to be addressed or impediments to meeting goals and milestones.  The PM develops project management guidelines and provides ongoing training and support to Information Technology department staff in project management.

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

 

? Assist the business systems analyst interacting with business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements

? Create, document and maintain complete, detailed, and valid project plans

? Employ generally accepted project management methodologies and tools to support the underlying development, acquisition/implementation, and coordination efforts

? Working closely with other IT teams and executive management in order to:

o  Identify project resource requirements

o  Report on project status

o  Maintain all of the project documentation, budget, projections, and forecasts

o  Insure all interested/affected parties are aware of project obstacles, critical-paths and other variations to the project plan

? Incorporate test plans, user training, and IT staff training in the project plans

? Manage senior and executive management and team expectations and meeting schedules

? Developing and maintaining business process models and internal IT functional documentation for areas of responsibility

? Understanding supported technologies, platforms and applications, and applying that knowledge to recommend the best approach to automating business solutions

? Maintaining and improving proficiency in the use of project life cycle methodologies, industry best practices and project management tools and techniques

 

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE:

 

? Bachelor?s degree or equivalent work experience

? A minimum of 5 years of professional business analysis experience

? Experience eliciting and writing business requirements, functional specifications and system testing documentation

? Must have good understanding of and/or experience working with an indirect channel sales model

? Must have prior project planning and management experience, strong attention to detail, time management and knowledge of Project Management methods and practices

? The candidate must have a good understanding of application and database development/table design concepts, ability to use reporting/query tools, and construct basic SQL statements

? Must have an understanding of the capabilities and limitations of supported application technologies and be capable of performing configuration activities using these technologies

? Must have a commitment to teamwork and customer service, and be able to perform well in a process-oriented, collaborative team environment

? Must have strong diagnostic and analytical skills

? The candidate must be able to work effectively in a fast=pace, dynamic environment and take charge with limited guidance

? Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and present a professional image

? Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)

? Knowledge of content management tools, HTML, and XML a plus
