Summary:

Conducts systems analysis and programming activities related to the development, maintenance, and/or installation of web applications.

Responsibilities:

The Web development associate helps maintain the content and appearance of the organization's internal Web site. Major responsibilities include adding new material to the site and replacing existing material, designing build-outs to house new sections of information, and incorporating graphic design elements to improve the look and feel of the site. Associate works with representatives from other Red Cross departments to help determine placement of information on the site and how best to organize information for presentation on the Web. Associate works independently, monitoring electronic mailbox for posting requests from internal staff. Participates in 24-hour on-call rotation on a weekly basis with other Web team members.

Qualifications:

Minimum of a four year degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field or have an equivalent number year's work experience in lieu of four year degree; Must be knowledgeable of user-centered design methodology, user scenarios, usability testing, storyboarding, paper and interactive prototypes. Must have demonstrated skills in graphic applications, HTML development tools and other applicable authoring tools, web production, front-end development using programming and scripting languages; must be able to integrate design into program rules and system architecture and create innovative approaches to improving the end-user experience and be familiar with platform/browser compatibility and basic usability issues. Strong customer service skills required. Must be able to work independently yet function well as part of a team.
