The Account Specialist works in the Billing Office Services group and has responsibility for posting medical charges, payments, and journal entries to patient accounts in a timely and accurate manner.  The Account Specialist also works denials, files appeals, and calls insurance companies.  This position works in a close team environment to meet daily, monthly and quarterly billing metrics.  Other responsibilities include verifying correct insurance filing information on behalf of the client and patient, verifying receipt of all patient registration data from client and notifying client of potential coding problems.



High school diploma or equivalent

2 years experience in healthcare billing

Solid understanding of the healthcare industry and reimbursement process

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work effectively on a team to coordinate assignments and meet client goals

Proficient skills with Microsoft applications

Previous experience using PowerWorks PM (formerly VitalWorks/Disc) medical practice software preferred
