Application Database Administrator

Responsible for the analysis, design, implementation and support of databases used in the development of in-house application solutions. This includes the physical data structure as well as the creation of stored procedures used for application data access.

 

Responsible for the development, implementation and support of enterprise strategic data warehouse technologies.

Responsible for the analysis, design and implementation of customized reports.

Responsible for the structural integrity of developed databases used throughout the health system.

Responsible for providing input for performance reviews

Responsible for the implementation and execution of preventative maintenance routines to ensure end-user availability and performance of database files and their related management systems.

 

Responsible for the updating of procedures, documentation and monitoring of all database backups and restores.

In conjunction with the Security team, the Sr. DBA is responsible to ensure proper security of all databases and their respective database management systems that are managed by the Information Systems group.

 

Responsible for the Tier III technical support of developed databases running on Oracle, SQL Server and other database management systems used in the system. This tier is the next level escalated from the Customer Service / Response Center.

Responsible for the execution and documenting the resolution of call support queues for the Database team.

 

Responsible for the structural design and implementation of in-house database files and related systems.

Act as technical consultant to vendors for complex database-related issues, systems, and implementation projects.

 

Responsible for the development of documentation to perform tasks listed above.

Working with the Lead Application DBA, coordinate downtime activities that support our database management systems.

Provide assistance where required to provide information on database management system licensing.

 

Required Skills:

Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems (or equivalent experience)

Ability to design database structures and solutions for a standards-based development environment

Experience with responsibility in database administration strategies utilizing Unix and/or Microsoft technologies

One year experience developing data warehouse strategies

One year experience with the development of application queries or stored procedures

One year experience developing customized reports in a product similar to Cognos, Business Objects or Crystal reports

One year database management experience in a healthcare environment

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Excellent documentation skills

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex assignments concurrently.

Ability to work with multiple teams on simultaneous projects

Knowledge of computer operations, electronic mail and general office automation tools.

Experience with database or network monitoring technologies and tools.

Experience with Oracle 9 & 10 and PL/SQL Server

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master?s degree in Computer Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or equivalent

Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator

Three years of database management experience in a healthcare environment
