Application Development Manager

This leadership position is responsible for managing a team of highly skilled Information Technology (IT) associates within a high growth and dynamic business and technical environment. Generally, the IT leader in this role will spend their time in the following areas:

Associate management, coaching, and development - 50%
Project management, mentorship, and leadership - 25%
Process management, review, and enhancement - 25%

Associate management includes coaching and developing associates, conducting performance appraisals, and helping individuals develop their skills and knowledge.

Project management includes working with team members to ensure critical software development projects are on track and delivered effectively. The Team Manager will provide guidance for team members who are leading projects and may also be asked to lead a technical project.

Process management requires the Team Manager to ensure existing processes, such as project management, quality management, and the software development life cycle, are being properly followed. In addition, the Team Manager will participate in IT's efforts to enhance and improve processes that are critical to the delivery of quality application systems and enhancements.

For this position, the business applications supported include those dedicated to call center customer service representatives, mutual fund transfer agency transactions, financial and shareholder transaction processing, on-line processing, and shareholder communications.

Qualifications
- Prior experience managing people including direct responsibility for performance appraisals
- Prior experience leading IT teams including coaching, guidance, encouragement and overall support
- Demonstrated skills with object oriented software development and design
- Thorough knowledge of IT project management
- Thorough knowledge of application development methodologies
- Thorough knowledge of the systems development life cycle
- Good judgment in identifying issues and recommending solutions to others
- Track record of developing and maintaining positive working relationships
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems is preferred
