Application Performance Engineer

Under general supervision, responsible for the research of focused application server performance tuning tasks at the corporate level, understand team methods for work effort tracking, understand team expectations on interacting with others, advise junior members on the Application Performance team, apply JDBC pool connections tuning recommendations, apply memory management tuning recommendations.
Advise junior members on the Application Performance team with topics such as application server analysis knowledge transfer, team methods for work effort tracking, and team expectations on interacting with others
Analyze JDBC pool connections and provide performance recommendations
Analyze memory management (JVM, Garbage collection, Heap, etc.) and provide performance recommendations
Interacts with the application teams and other shared services teams on application server performance and benchmarking activities in a lab scenario
Assists with the resolution of current production application server performance inefficiencies
Learn and utilize application server performance profiling and monitoring tools for identification of performance opportunities
Analyze Java code and apply industry standard best practices
Analyze Weblogic thread/queues and provide performance recommendations
Receives regular notification of non-business hour production performance issues jeopardizing application throughput parameters related to business critical path processes
Utilizes tools efficiently for work effort tracking and reporting purposes
Since this job role is a specialized role, delivers results to other teams in a diplomatic and easily interpretable mannerRequired Skills
1+ years experience with application server performance knowledge transfer (teaching classes, being a mentor, etc.)
1+ years experience working with web servers, various database platforms, Weblogic, Tuxedo, etc.
2+ years experience working with complex environments. In particular, with components like load balancers, content switches
3+ years experience with web applications (with and without webservers, experience with cookies)
Excellent communication and diplomatic skills for interaction with the various application and business areas.
A Bachelor Of Science and computer related major (ie, Computer Information Systems, Computer Programming) from a 4 year college/university OR equivalent years related experience OR equivalent combination of years and experience.
