Application Programmer Analyst (FoxPro) - KJD8289

I.  Job Summary:   This position will be responsible for the development and
support of various applications at Blue Cross Blue Shield
of Minnesota.  This position requires that the developer work
closely with clients, business analysts and team
members to deliver solutions that are aligned with business
and IT strategies.  Application developers are
involved in the full systems life cycle and are, therefore, responsible
for the analysis, development, maintenance and integration of
application software.

Application Programmer Analysts have knowledge of programming
 languages and tools in use by the organization,
as well as, an understanding of system development, integration
and project management methodologies. 


II.  Accountabilities:

 

1. Ability to participate on projects from start to finish with guidance
from other senior members of the team.

2. Ability to handle multiple assignments
(moderate risk and complexity in nature).

3. Resolves production problems.

4. Delivers products through compliance with IT procedures
and methodology.

5. Demonstrates an understanding of the standards and deliverables,
which ensure the integrity of the development process.

6. Ability to provide estimates on medium sized application changes.
7. Analyzes complex programs and sub-system problems for adaptive
or corrective changes.

8. Writes technical specifications.

9. Applies business knowledge and past experience to the
analysis/solution generation process.

10. Designs programs of moderate complexity and sub-systems in
accordance with architecture principles and guidelines.

11. Strives to reuse modules when available.

12. Codes programs of moderate complexity with minimal guidance.

13. Programs proficiently in a given language.

14. Conducts code review of others.

15. Documents programs and job streams according to standards.

16. Understands and effectively utilizes development and testing tools.

17. Performs integration and system testing.

18. Documents test plans and resolves integration and system testing issues.

19. Meets customer expectations by producing agreed upon products
on time, within estimate and without defects.

20. Contributes in the review of deliverables.

21. Understands and complies with IT standards or makes appropriate
alternative recommendations to modify standards.

22. Ability to communicate, both orally and verbally, in a clear
and concise manner.

23. Relays decisions, changes and other relevant information to the
right people at the right time.

24. Understands the impact of system design changes and how they
 affect the application that they support.

25. Understands the business issues for applications related to
areas supported.

26. Performs on-call duties, including carrying a pager and responding
 to and resolving issues during off-hours.

27. Other duties, as assigned.


III.  Job Requirements:

 

3+ years programming experience.

1+ year of FoxPro and/or Visual FoxPro experience.

Desire and ability to learn new technologies.

Oracle, Java, Rational tool suite, and Websphere experience preferred.
