Application Software Engineer (C, Fortran, VMS) - Store Systems

BLOCKBUSTER (NYSE BBI) is looking for an Application Software Engineer (Fortran, VMS) - Store Systems to work in our corporate office located in the Dallas, TX metroplex. 


 

Essential Responsibilities:


Engineers applications for Store Systems. These systems provide sales, inventory management, customer marketing, financial management, and reporting capabilities to over 8,500 locations in 20+ countries.


Analyzes, designs, codes, tests, debugs, and implements projects for multiple application areas.


Analyzes escalated problems and services level exceptions and identifies trends, determines root cause, and resolves.


May be required to lead small to medium sized initiatives to develop new applications.


Works heavily with Fortran, C, and VMS.



TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION REQUIRED:
5 years experience with software engineering methods (e.g. use cases, OOA/D, etc.)
5 years experience with Fortran application development (e.g. Fortran 77. Fortran 90)
3-5 years experience working on VMS platform
1-3 years experience as a Technical and/or Project Lead
DESIRED SKILLS: Java development experience, Oracle and PL/SQL experience, knowledge & understanding of retail systems
Typically requires an undergraduate degree with 3-5 years of applicable experience
