Application Support Specialist

As an Application Support Specialist with U.S. Bank, you will: Provide technical direction, guidance and support to development management, clients and other development staff regarding applications, systems analysis, product evaluation, client requirements, and systems standards Conceive and implement technical system configurations and specifications. Support business application programs and environments and ensures satisfactory functionin May function as a Project Leader. Serve as technical consultant to clients. Interface with clients and technical staff to investigate, analyze and resolve complex technical problems related to system functions, equipment, programming and procedures. Maintain and/or modify existing system processes and evaluates interrelationships to determine how changes will affect other related areas. Research, test, evaluate and recommend new and existing vendors, products, services, technical capabilities, systems and procedures to achieve appropriate technical capability in a cost effective manner. Make recommendations to improve operating efficiency and functionality of assigned system area. Perform sizing and costing systems analysis; makes project status presentations to management. Work on, or may serve as project leader on, large systems installations, including the development of system specifications and the resolution of complex systems and programming problems Be competent at a high technical level, understand whole systems architecture, have multi-systems knowledge and background Develop and train less experienced technical staff Operate under deadlines and multiple project responsibility.

 

While we expect that you?ll possess a strong basic skill set, including excellent communication and people skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team or independently, we also require:Ability to use knowledge of systems programming related to: RDBMS (DB2, SQL Server)Unix, Windows2000/2003 or NT experience E-commerce, web servers (Netscape, Microsoft) or web-application servers Java/C++/object oriented programming and Distributed Computing XML exposure, development using XML WebShpere/MQ Series A basic understanding of systems architecture principles Ability to assist in conducting a system analysis of a business problem including scheduling meetings, planning agendas, conferring with client leaders, taking notes, and making verbal and written presentations Understanding of proper coding techniques, efficiencies and testing requirements.
