Application System Analyst

Summary:

Proven experience in the software implementation, administration and support area for a multi-companied ERP system.  Expertise with either Lawson Software or JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Software is required. 



 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

 

Responsibilities include installing, configuring, maintaining and upgrading the ERP applications. A minimum of three years experience administering ERP applications in a Windows/Sequel environment is required.   

Duties:

Provides expert knowledge and support for business applications. 

 

Provides technical support and monitoring 24x7. 

 

Plans and executes application installations and upgrades, including security and program configuration and maintenance for business applications and databases.

 

Initiate research and perform technical improvements to installed applications. 

 

Reviews recurring application issues and proactively eliminates root causes.  Monitors networks, systems, and databases, including improving efficiency and optimizing storage and backup procedures.

 

Provides application customizations and programming as needed. 

 

Creates project plans and executes application installations, configurations, upgrades, patches, and required infrastructure (operating system environment, program and user security, network capacity and throughput, database backups) for applications and associated processes.

 

Plans and performs analysis of all activities that engage the ERP system.

 

Works with functional groups within IT and internal customers to develop short- and long-term system plans and ensures that customer needs analysis is in alignment with business initiatives.

 

Performs analysis of existing operations/processes/workflow, information systems and applications and recommends changes to increase effectiveness.

 

Will analyze user requests for new systems as well as enhancements and upgrades to existing systems including the development of ROI financial analysis.

 

Audits use of applications by users to determine if full system capabilities are being utilized.  Makes recommendations and/or provides training to expand utilization to enhance accuracy, improve productivity or streamline processes.

 

Conducts research on new technologies and applications, primarily associated with the ERP, that can either provide a competitive advantage or increase service/ operational effectiveness.

 

Determines and reports on the feasibility of ERP upgrades or development by analyzing existing system capabilities, customer requirements, deadlines, and department or vendor resource availability.  Manages and coordinates upgrades with departments and within the IT Department.

 

Will analyze, interpret, and make recommendations in the form of formal proposals and/or presentations to senior executives.

 

Plan and conduct scheduled project status meetings that report on performance, milestones, action items, metrics and issues.

 

Manages customer change requests throughout the project lifecycle to minimize impact to the project cost, schedule and resources.

 

Provides thorough training sessions and documentation for internal customers as well as support staff for each project roll out.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience  

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related area and six or more years of relevant IT experience or the equivalent in education/experience;  Experience with ERP systems, knowledge of using Lawson 8.x Financials, Human Resources and Procurement or JD Edwards EnterpriseOne.

 

5+ years working technical experience with installing, configuring and supporting business applications.

 

5+ years hands-on experience in system/application administration and troubleshooting.

 

4+ years of expedience in an ERP system, including financials, HR, procurement, and process flows.

 

4+ years of experience in developing applications and customizations.

 

4+ years of experience in SQL Server, database clustering, clustering applications, Windows 2003, IIS.

Experience in creating Crystal Reports and Microsoft Project.

 

Strong technical documentation skills.

 

 

Language Skills   

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write speeches, articles and presentations using original or innovative techniques or style.  Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, customers and employees.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability  

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with multiple projects and /or problems concurrently is required.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Certifications with either Lawson or JD Edwards system administration.
