Description
Unix/Linux Systems Administrator with strong Perl/Unix scripting and some application integration experience.

Morgan Stanley Equity IT is seeking individuals with 2-5 years experience in application systems integration/engineering for its Electronic Trading Systems group.

Our sales and trading infrastructure is built from proprietary, highly configurable software components. The hands on role of the integrator is to gather requirements from the business desks or clients, customize the components and design/implement the overall system in order to deliver the required business functionality.



Close interaction with development teams is required to communicate functional improvements to core products. New hires must quickly learn the intricacies of our proprietary deployment infrastructure and technologies and use that knowledge to help rapidly deploy new revenue additive products.



The integrator will typically be part of a 3-5 person product team aligned to a particular business line. The business lines covered include cash and derivatives trading, proprietary algorithmic engines, client and exchange connectivity, order management, single name and portfolio trading, control systems, booking/book and records to name a few.

Skills Required
Basically, we need a Unix/Linux Systems Administrator with strong Perl/Unix scripting and some application integration experience.

Full description:
Business analysis, project management and life cycle.
Unix experience (solaris/linux). Strong user level, Unix administrators a plus.
Client-server architecture and design.
Performance and capacity analysis.
Configuration management and versioning tools (rcs, cvs, perforce)
Proficiency with ksh and perl.
Good trouble-shooting skills.
Ability to work with accuracy in a fast paced environment.
Good communication skills.

Skills Desired
XML structures and messaging
FIX messaging.
Pub-sub messaging system.
Relational database (transact SQL, stored procedures, schema design).
Financial knowledge, especially in equity products.
