Applications Development Manager (4350CH/93)

Job Description:
Direct and manage all New York City based payment group developers and development activities. The development manager is responsible for ensuring adherence to company coding standards and procedures and for encouraging the development of reusable, efficient, scalable, maintainable and reliable code. Management duties include recommending decisions on persnonel actions (hiring, terminations, promotions, etc.) and performing formal and informal evaluations.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Reviews resumes, conducts interviews and recommends hiring of new developers.
2. Assigns, supervises and reviews the work of programmers in the design, development, implementation, modification and maintenance of software applications.
3. Organizes formal and informal training programs for application development personnel.
4. In consultation with technical leads, identifies and evaluates the impact of proposed or requested major changes to existing application systems.
5. Develops, implements and enforces design and development standards and procedures.
6. Ensures appropriate documentation in program code.
7. Provides and coordinates on-call support and problem resolution for production systems.
8. Assists subordinates wherever necessary in understanding project tasks and objectives.
9. Coordinates with other team leads on interface development.
10. Oversees application development environment.
11. Manages regular and on-demand builds of applications.
12. When appropriate, oversees out-sources development efforts.
13. Carries out supervisory responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
