Applications Systems Analyst

Celebrating six decades of Making Cancer History, The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is located in Houston on the sprawling campus of the Texas Medical Center. It is one of the world's most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and prevention.

Essential Functions:

Analyze and document assigned projects/problems as outlined by management personnel, systems analyst, user definition or Functional Services by written specifications or verbal discussion to determine requirements without supervision. Where applicable, the analysis will conform to standards set forth by the Institutional Project Management Methodology 100% of the time.

Design new systems/programs; design enhancements to existing systems/programs; write specifications for new systems/programs or modification of existing systems/programs, including file and database design, CRT screen presentation and reports. Where applicable, the design will conform to standards set forth by the Institutional Project Management Methodology 100% of the time.

Prioritize, schedule and monitor activities and quality of work for assigned resources. Hold or participate in regular project work sessions with staff and users to discuss priorities and resources and the strategic allocation of the same.

Perform on-call duties in rotation with the Technical Services staff and provide assistance, as needed, to other staff members in their on-call rotation; follow-up on any problems encountered in the on-call rotation including documentation/recovery updates; inform the department of problems encountered. A diligent effort to contact management for advice and proper business partner notification is made for each on-call incident that could impact systems availability 100% of the time.

Write, test and document accurately functioning, well-structured programs using clear, meaningful and readable naming conventions and other standards and techniques for ease of maintenance without supervision. Change Management Request Forms resulting from new or changed programs, schedules or JCL will have a successful completion rate of no less than 95%.

EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.


EXPERIENCE

Required: Three years experience in analysis/design/project management/programming.

Preferred: Experience in PeopleSoft HR/8.x, KRONOS WFC 5.x, PeopleTools, PeopleCode, PL/SQL, Java, and XML is a plus. Recent project related experience with Kronos WFC 5.x a plus.
