Associate Systems Engineer

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Corporate IT, the selected candidate will be responsible for

administering and supporting critical enterprise applications.  The Associate Systems Engineer will perform a variety of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) duties for medium-to-high complexity software code and configuration changes to Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) systems and original software applications. Changes may include the design, development, and testing of workflows, reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and forms.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 
Planning & Re-engineering - Assists in building business cases and work plans by designing and selecting medium complexity solutions, assessing risks, analyzing impact, and providing estimates for work as required.
Design & Development - Prepares Functional Specifications. Builds, reviews, and approves prototypes based on draft requirements. Prepares and reviews software code and/or configuration Design Specifications based on documented functional and user requirements. Develops medium-to-high complexity software code and/or configuration changes.  Prepares Unit Test Results to demonstrate completeness of design and development. Reviews code and/or configuration changes and Unit Test Results.
Testing - Prepares and reviews automated and manual test scripts (test data setup and test execution) to be used for execution of Operational Qualification and Performance Qualification and for purposes of regression testing. Prepares Validation Strategies and Validations Summaries. Reviews Installation Qualifications. Prepares Operational Qualifications.
Application Administration / Support / Leadership ? Serves as primary application administrator for systems owned and primarily utilized by software engineers (such as software development tools, requirements cataloguing, test automation, and version management systems). May also serve as primary application administrator and top-tier support for enterprise applications. Serves as lead
analyst / investigator on high complexity support issues. Serves as development lead on medium complexity projects.
Policy and Procedure - Understands and complies with all established corporate, IT, and software engineering policies and procedures. Contributes to, and prepares changes to software engineering policies and procedures
Scope of Responsibilities - Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects.  Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
Perform other duties as assigned.

 

The qualified candidate must have a Bachelors Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering discipline, plus 5 years relevant experience, or MS/MBA Degree with 3 years experience, or PhD/JD Degree. 

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must possess skills/abilities in the following:

? Required in one or more Requirements Management systems such as Rational Requisite Pro or Mercury Test Director, Borland Caliber RM, etc.  Experience in Mercury Test Director is strongly preferred.

? Required in one of more Automated Testing Tools such as WinRunner, Rational Suite TestStudio, QA Center, etc.  Experience with Mercury products is strongly preferred.

? Required in one or more of the following languages and development environments: Delphi, Visual Basic, C++, Java, PL/SQL.

? MS Windows and Unix platforms.

? Client /server interaction with MS SQL, Oracle, or like enterprise database platform.

Desired in Validation Practices and Standards (such as GAMP 4).

? Able to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.  Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organizational objectives.
