BUSINESS ANALYST
Summary: This position is the liaison between the U.S. based business departments and the systems development teams in Montreal Canada. This position will review, analyze and evaluate user needs to formulate systems to achieve the overall business strategies.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Demonstrated ability to build business relationships
Demonstrated leadership and problem solving skills
Knowledgeable of the business areas this position is supporting, to aid in identifying process improvement within the business processes
Meet regularly with the business to identify opportunities for enhancements as well as assess scope and impact of business needs and manage their expectations
Participates in the development of the business case with cost and benefit dimensions for proposed IS projects that will be used by management for funding and scope decisions.
Participates in RFIs and RFPs creation where appropriate
Seek sign-offs from the business sponsor(s) throughout the system development process
Analyze business processes and functional requirements; prepare requirements documentation to include functional requirements, workflow, information sources and system behavior.
Develop and participate in user acceptance test plans and execution
Develop end-user system documentation
Prepare and perform deployment plan
Communicate system implementations and enhancements to the business areas and the support centers through various media (email, web, on-site training)
Support the business for day-to-day production issues and research requests. Review the production issues to determine if system enhancements should be recommended
Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field or 5+ years experience with application development methodologies. Extensive experience gathering business requirements, business process reengineering, and application testing.
3 years experience working with retail systems, such as; procurement, promotions, item, pricing and category management for general merchandise and pharmacy products. Or retail financial systems, such as; Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Third Party Accounts Receivable, Taxes, Financial Statements and Settlements.
Working knowledge of Microsoft suite; Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Visio
Working knowledge of query tools (AS400 preferred)
Travel for training may be necessary, which may include travel to Montreal Canada
