Business Analyst - MIS Unification

Private Banking (PB) assists high-net-worth individuals in managing their wealth, by advising them on how best to configure their assets for maximum benefit, and by providing financial services to achieve specific goals.  PB draws on the expertise of product specialists throughout Morgan, and coordinates the delivery of Morgan services furnished to private clients, so that they complement each other and are presented to (and reported to) the client in an integrated fashion.

 

PB works with clients in three interrelated aspects of wealth management: 1) configuring assets optimally, through various asset ownership structures, diversification strategies, and other techniques for realizing and preserving asset values after taxes, 2) investing effectively, whether clients prefer to manage their portfolio themselves, or want Morgan to manage their investments, or a combination of both, 3) managing liquid assets, so enough is always readily available for clients to meet ongoing needs.

MIS Unification is a program developed to efficiently provide Private Banking business partners with timely, accurate, detailed and customized business management information  A multi-year program, MIS will establish a strategic data warehouse supporting ‘one version of the truth’ from which PB Financial reporting will be driven. 

 

This technical Business Analyst position is for the MIS Unification analyst team of PB Technology located in Newark, DE. This technical Business Analyst would support IT projects in the PB MIS Unification program.

 

Responsibilities

Role Specific Responsibilities

?Serve as liaison between development team and business end-users

?Identify, assess, and document business requirements and functional specifications, recommending business priorities, and advising business on options, risks, and costs versus benefits of various solutions

?Responsible for working with the business to analyze business requirements, providing technical expertise, and producing specifications for any new / change MIS applications.

?Analyze impacts of proposed solutions on technology platforms

?Develop use cases to explain / demonstrate business requirements / specifications to IT team

?Document test strategies ensuring that requirements documentation can be easily translated into test scripts, and ensure that the proper testing plans have been completed

?Develop and execute system integration test scripts and ensure the testing results correspond to the business expectations

?Identify and communicate risks to delivering solution on time

?  Develop project plans to manage the end-to-end project activities

?Support MIS team in analyzing data to ensure it meets business data requirements

?Understand the structures, usage and sources of data

?Understand the context in which data is used within the business and match business requirements to the sources of data within systems

?Work with analyst and development team to design solutions for clients

?Define data quality plans to address data quality issues; work with business partners to build business understanding of data issues

?Define data validation rules / standards

?Conduct statistical analysis, identification of data issues and validation of data integrity

?Help analyze impact of proposed solution across PBIT

?Provide input to the development of formal business cases

Contribute a data requirements perspective during design reviews

Qualifications

?  College degree, or specialized training or equivalent work experience

?  3-5 years of relevant work experience

?  Experience / understanding of business process reengineering and business modeling concepts

?  Awareness of the PBIT, business and IT strategy

?  Basic understanding of the company’s business practices, and familiarity with the company’s products and services

?  Strong analytical and writing skills

?  Data warehouse experience a plus

?  SQL knowledge a plus

?  Work with Business Intelligence tools a plus
