PLATO currently has an opening for an experienced Business Analyst, Sr. to work in our Development organization within corporate headquarters in Bloomington, MN.
A Business Analyst, Sr. owns requirements development for business, software, and usability requirements, with measurable statements agreed upon by all stakeholders. In conjunction with project manager, the business analyst is responsible for requirements management. Additional duties for this position are as follows:Knows and supports the FLIP integrated business process and the project?s requirements process by ensuring the process outputs needed by the project team are created in a timely fashion; escalate to the PM as needed (deliverable: FLIP documents are available when the project team needs them).Responsible for tracking the key FLIP output documents and notifying the project team of changes and potential impacts to project requirements in a timely fashion; BA initiates change requests as needed (deliverable: proactively protect project scope. FLIP documents are only one of many items than can initiate change)Lead functional requirements gathering sessions with the business. Document and validate functional requirements with the business. Lead and participate in activities related to business process modeling, requirements gathering and analysis, use case development, and functional design creation for designated areas of the business. Assist review of functional requirements with architect and software developers.Coordinating multiple activities for multiple activities with varying timelines from initiation through close-out.Interface with all levels of internal and external ?clients? to help define and re-engineer business processes as well as gather, analyze, and document business requirements.Lead the development and growth of the relationship with assigned business functions in the organization. Provide business management advice and technical analysis of business decisions to key managers. Maintain and promote excellent communications within both the business and IT. Work closely with development to define and design business solutions.Lead the effort to improve and refine software lifecycle methodology as it pertains to analysis activities.Lead technical support for applications. Validate and recreate issues reported by the business. Work with software developers and business analysts if needed to provide resolutions in a timely manner.Collaborate with business analysts and team lead to identify opportunities to improve functionality of an application and increase operating efficiency.
The qualifications we are seeking for this position will include a Bachelor?s degree with course work in business, communication, and/or marketing. Additionally, we are seeking candidates with the following experience:Must have a minimum of six years work experience in software development.Formal design / development methodology (UML, Rational, SDLC) Must have experience in leading cross-functional teams.Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, negotiation and organizational skills.Must possess strong facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities.Must have working knowledge of Microsoft application software (i.e., Word, Excel, and Project).Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of an organization.Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, work independently.Ability to work in a team environment and be open to change.Must be detail-oriented and accurate.
