Business Intelligence Developer

Focal requirement: Cognos expertise, primarily ReportNet and PowerPlay. The primary purpose of the Senior Business Intelligence Developer in Business Technology Services is to support and enhance the needs of decision-makers, professionals, production and support staff by (1) creating and supporting business intelligence and analytical reporting solutions (2) creating routine reports that fulfill internal and regulatory needs (3) performing system administration and monitoring activities on reporting solutions (4) participating on project teams as directed by manager. ? Design and development- Ensures that developed and/or integrated applications are reliable, maintainable, supportable, and of high quality; ensure that the solution analysis, design/architecture, technical specification, tools and construction/integration satisfactorily meet requirements; use approved tools and development and change management processes resulting in a superior product lifecycle. ? Provide technology guidance, research and assessment, and recommend solution; assist projects manager in guiding the technical team. ? Participate in projects to develop and deliver business intelligence solutions that support regulatory, operational, financial, marketing, and/or sales and service business initiatives. This includes facilitating the flow of the project deliverable from the development phase to Quality Control (QC) in order to support a successful on-time completion of high-quality products. ? Analyze, design, and implement solutions that support small scale development and enhancement efforts that are approved by the Development Steering and Review Committees. ? Monitor and support the production reporting environment. This includes ensuring that all necessary jobs and processes completed within defined service level agreements, resolving system errors and issues, communicating system status and availability to customers, and escalating issues to vendors and technology partners as necessary. ? Create and/or modify policies and procedures as business needs or applications/systems change while proactively communicating changes to company associates who may be impacted by these changes. ? Serve as a technical expert on in-house business intelligence/reporting tool solutions ? Provide subject matter expertise, training, and/or development for operational/production systems ? Ensures that policies, procedures, and system documentation is complete and remains current

Requirements
? Excellent analytical and problem solving skills ? Proven knowledge and experience working with end user data query, manipulation, and reporting tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Cognos PowerPlay, Cognos ReportNet, and Crystal Reports ? Proven knowledge of ASP.NET development and support ? Proven knowledge of relational database design and data modeling concepts ? Proven knowledge of using stored procedures and SQL to extract/modify data in an enterprise class relational database environment ? Proven experience working with system life cycle methodology including integration, quality assurance, user acceptance, and change management processes ? High degree of knowledge of the mutual funds and/or managed accounts industry ? Ability to work in a team environment and across business units ? Ability to think conceptually and view issues within a broad business context ? Ability to multitask and prioritize appropriately to meet client needs ? Assertive, self-motivated, and self-directed ? Exceptional degree of professionalism demonstrating confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment ? Excellent verbal and written communication skills and abilities, including listening carefully, asking questions, and leading discussions and meetings Additional requirements and years of experience: ? 5-7 years experience in data analysis ? 3-5 years of experience using Microsoft Access as an analysis/reporting tool querying, filtering, macros; exposure to extracting information from Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase ? 2 years of Cognos ReportNet experience ? Administration, Reports, Scheduling, Framework Manager, SDK, Security, Bursting, etc ? 1-2 years of experience using Microsoft ASP.NET (VB.NET) to build data driven web sites ? Excellent working knowledge of relational and dimensional data models ? Excellent working knowledge of XML, VB.NET, VBA, VBScript, HTML, JavaScript ? Working knowledge of enterprise class Customer Relationship Management tool ? Working knowledge of version control and code repository management
