Business Intelligence Developer

Reports to: Business Intelligence Manager


Summary:

An expert in one or more business intelligence tools, the BI Developer works closely with the BI Analyst to translate the business requirements, along with data profiling results, into the technical Business Intelligence design and solution.


The BI Developer configures the BI tools, develops the semantic layer and metadata, and creates reports, and report definitions. This role will also be responsible for developing the information access portal(s) and administering the BI tool(s).


The BI Developer will work closely with the data warehouse teammates to ensure the underlying data satisfies the requirements.

Collaborates with all IT teams and the business to ensure highest level of service and solutions.


Qualifications:

1) Bachelor's degree in business or computer science preferred; requires 7 or more years of computer systems experience with 4+ years of experience in Oracle's Business Intelligence Suite of products.
2) Good healthcare industry knowledge. Develop a basic understanding of the dialysis process and can converse with clinical personnel regarding dialysis.

3) Gain, and maintain, an excellent knowledge of DaVita's business objectives and strategies.
4) Strong communication skills. Assimilates information quickly, communicates complex technical requirements and issues clearly and concisely.
5) Strong development skills. In-depth (4+ years) understanding and experience in developing Oracle Discoverer Business Intelligence Suite (10g) solutions; spanning graphs, tabular reports, drill-down/up, OLAP, etc. In-depth understanding and experience in developing the information access/distribution mechanism within Oracle Portal framework.

6) Strong support skills. Sufficient understanding, or ability to learn how, to maintain other existing business intelligence. Good customer service attitude and follow-thru.

7) Understands concepts, capabilities, and limitations of underlying data warehouse structures; such as relational and multi-dimensional database structures and schemas; detail data, aggregate data, OLAP data.

8) Configures BI tools to meet user needs.

9) Strong problem solving and metadata skills.

4) Installs, configures, and deploys BI solutions that align with infrastructure and architectural standards.

5) Troubleshoots BI problems and tunes for performance.

6) Develops semantic layer for end users.

7) Creates reports and report templates.

8) Creates portal pages and portlets that facilitate the sharing of information (information access portals).

9) Develops and maintains BI solutions in other legacy technologies, such as Crystal, etc.

10) Collaborates with other teammates across IT to deliver solid, effective solutions.
