Business Programmer Analyst

Technical expert in one or more highly specialized areas of applications systems analysis and development. Individual must be self motivated and acts independently under general direction. Provides technical leadership on complex projects. May act as an expert in business or functional area. Formulates/defines system scope and objectives. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time and form of desired results. Works with our customers to prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation. Has full technical knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming. May be responsible for multiple phases of a project. May have duties instructing, directing and checking the work of other applications systems analysis and programming personnel. May have quality assurance review responsibilities. Must be able to collaborate in a team setting.

 

 



BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Experience and Soft Skills
Completion of Bachelors degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, etc.
5+ years of increasingly responsible professional experience. 
5+ years of object oriented development using .Net, Java, C#
Excellent programming skills in PL/SQL
Knowledge of XML
Excellent working knowledge of Oracle and SQL database environment, must be able to perform data and structural analysis for issues related to application development
Experience in data modeling and database design
Work experience in a corporate environment with standards and controls, e.g., code migration, source control, etc.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Detail oriented
Demonstrates high level of initiative and self motivation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience in insurance, financial industries is a plus
