Capacity Management Engineer

Job summary:

?  Ensure the efficient operation of network equipment and facilities

?  Carry out upgrades, enhancement, replacement and installation of IP equipment

?  Ensures adequate IP capacity to deliver IP services to all Insight?s Markets 

?  Assist in monitoring the IP network for operating issues including failures, degradation and event correlation. Takes corrective action to ensure connectivity and minimize down time

?  Assists with problem resolution for technical hardware communications issues

?  Assumes responsibility for testing IP network facilities

?  Assist in maintaining technical documentation and procedure manuals.

?  Provides input and feed back for the use and optimization of NOC network Management applications/tools as well as processes and procedures

?  Asses and trouble shoot escalated issues in a timely manner

?  Works with Carriers to insure connectivity and capacity on the Backbone and Internet Access circuits are adequate to handle insight IP traffic.

?  Assist with connectivity to other partner networks. (peering)

 

Qualifications:IP Layer 3 knowledge and skillsExpert in routing protocols for IP deliveryExperience working with Local Exchange Carriers and IXE?sBasic PC SkillsGood communication skillsExperience with Capacity management tools such as Bear Creek. MRTG, and SolarWindsAssociates degree desirable HS diploma requiredExperience with DOCSIS desired
