Sabre has an immediate opening for an experienced Cognos system administrator in the DFW area. Cognos system administration is a function of Sabre's Business Intelligence Center. The new resource will be responsible for a combination of support and development assignments. The ideal candidate has worked with Cognos Series 7 for 3+ years and has performed job responsibilities in three main support areas: Architecture, User Access and Support/Maintenance.




Architecture duties include: create a multi-year capacity plan; maintain standards and guidelines for usage; ensure appropriate user access; define and maintain standards for promotion of new development to production environment; implement additional reporting tools to support Dashboards/ Scorecards/ etc. as defined by user requirements.




User access duties include: provide access; maintain user and developer license counts to ensure software compliance; integrate Cognos Portal into intranet strategy.




Support/Maintenance duties include: plan/coordinate/implement new releases of Cognos software; maintain drivers; configure and tune the application for performance; coordinate hardware maintenance/upgrades; provide guidance to new projects; support development teams during testing; identify inefficient processes or reports; ensure multi-server environment is load balanced, operating properly and optimized.


EDUCATION: Bachelor degree or equivalent, preferably in IT




EXPERIENCE:





7+ years of IT experience with 3+ year of experience administering an enterprise implementation of Cognos Series 7
PowerPlay and ReportNet
Multiple servers for load balancing, failover, etc.
Multi-tier architecture (web, application, db, directory and content servers)
Security modeling for internal and external users
Multiple data sources from different db sources (Teradata, Oracle, DB2, etc.)
Skilled in both Windows and Unix
Good functional knowledge of networks and firewalls
Understanding of report development with Cognos tools
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
In addition, favorable consideration will be given to candidates with experience in the following areas: Teradata, travel industry, migrations from Cognos Series 7 to 8.
