Computer Operators and Managers needed

We are currently seeking multiple Operators and Managers for our growing organization.You will be responsible for providing coverage in the command center, displaying knowledge of all environments.

 

Data Center Manager

This position will be responsible for managing Data Center Operators and providing leadership and mentoring.  The manager is tasked with providing highly-reliable service and rapid response to issues for all systems within the data centers. The applicant must be both an experienced technical leader within the Data Center and an effective manager for staff.  The center is a 24x7 operation.



 

Data Center Operator

This position is a hands on role responsible for monitoring, automating, operating and diagnosing the physical computing infrastructure in our data centers. Applicant must be fluent in running and installing Windows, and Linux/Unix OSs. Capable of understanding and responding to operating system errors, as well as, learning and operating a variety of custom built and industry standard applications.   Additional responsibilities include monitoring and diagnosing TCP/IP based network components using standard tools.  Additionally, the applicant should be familiar with standard scripting tools to automate data center operations tasks to run jobs, look for issues, and to solve problems.  The applicant must also have excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong customer focus and a sense of urgency in addressing customer?s issues.

 

Responsibilities:

? Actively monitor and address network and infrastructure issues and follow appropriate procedures.

? Perform system reboots and participate in failure diagnoses

? Automate tasks using standard Unix tools (chron, perl, shell script, etc)

? Responsible for backup and restores including scheduling and monitoring backups using HP OmniBack.

? Perform and monitor inbound and outbound file transfers, and other operational tasks.

? Attend to network monitoring and monitoring of networked applications

? Ability to work weekends and holidays when required.

 

Requirements:

? Associates degree or higher or equivalent work related experience preferred.

? 2+ years experience operating in a distributed Linux/Unix system environment. (RedHat, HP-UX)

? 2+ years experience working with scheduling packages (Unix tools, Tidal, Maestro, EDM) and backup systems (HP OmniBack)

? Operational knowledge of HP Open View, NetIQ

? Experience with monitoring network communications.

? Preferences:

o  Oracle database and Applications experience strongly preferred

o  Experience with enterprise Outlook installations a plus

o  VB, Perl, Python, shell-script or other scripting capabilities a plus
