Computer Systems Manager-LAN

NYCERS currently has an opening for a Computer Systems Manager in the LAN unit. This position requires a high level of technical and supervisory responsibility for coordinating teams and individuals engaged in multiple LAN, WAN, security, and infrastructure projects. The qualified candidate will be responsible for the design and implementation of highly complex, interactive Active Directory, Email, File, and Print systems. In addition, this person will manage and deploy appropriate security and Group Policy measures across the enterprise and interact with other groups within the division. Responsibilities include research and development, exploring new technologies, and contributing to policy decisions regarding new technical directions. This person will act as a back up to the Deputy Director of IT/Mainframe and Network.
Preferred Skills:
o At least 5 years of experience with Microsoft Server Infrastructure Technologies: VMWARE, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2000, Active Directory, Security on the Wintel platform, desktop rollout, and help desk management
o Experience with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange 2000 server. This includes design, implementation, troubleshooting, and all aspects of support
o Extensive experience with Disaster Recovery
o Well versed in Microsoft desktop implementation and application deployment and support
o Experience with Microsoft ISA Server 2000 and ISA Server 2004 as a Firewall and Proxy Server
o Excellent oral and written communication
o Experience with mainframe interface (FTP) is a definite plus
Qualification Requirements
1. A master's degree in computer science from an accredited college and three years of progressively more responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience using mainframe, mini- or micro-computer technology in computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing, at least 18 months of this experience must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity in the areas of computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing or in the supervision of staff performing these duties; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of experience as described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of experience as described in "1" above; or
4. Education and experience equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and must possess at least three years of experience as described in "1" above, including the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1" above.
