Configuration Engineer
Configuration Engineer Description: A Configuration Engineer must exemplify the Mission and Core Values internally with co-workers and staff as well as externally with customers, clients, and partners. This position requires solid experience managing the configuration and build environment for a small to medium size software development staff developing solutions utilizing Microsoft technologies. The Configuration Engineer is an integral part of the software team and is involved in the full range of the software development lifecycle.
Essential Job Functions:
Work closely with Project Managers, System Administrators, and Development team during the development, test and launch phases of the software development life cycle to configure and release application/web site code into test and production environments.
Perform version control and labeling of the build and all supporting documentation using Microsoft Visual Source Safe.
Track application configuration through Development, Software QA and Production environments.
Coordinate release schedules for multiple applications in Windows environments with various IT teams.
Management of the source code control system (MS VSS).
Author documents related to the deployment process for each software release.
Develop MSI packages for deployment via Microsoft Installer.
Attend change control meetings and initiate follow-up actions when appropriate.
Engage applications not previously under Release Management and establish appropriate release processes for such applications.
Participate in process improvement initiatives related to the Release Management process.
Work closely with development and quality teams to maintain validation standards.
Works to see that all enhancements in process, build labels, and released products are documented.
Identify and propose areas of improvement throughout the software development process.
Provide technical assistance and source control training to other departments as required.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical issues to a wide range of audiences.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to create and manage budgets. Ability to read various statistics.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and analyze several abstract and concrete variables.

Education:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or comparable experience.
4+ years of experience in a software development environment.
Bonus Skills:
Experience in working in a QA regulated environment such as medical devices, pharmaceutical, or 21 CFR Part 11 is a plus.
Healthcare or pharmaceutical domain knowledge is a plus.
