Connect:Direct/Connect:Enterprise Support Consultant

Synectics has an opening in Riverwoods, IL. A Connect:Direct/Connect:Enterprise Support Consultant is needed to help implement, configure and support Sterling Commerce Connect:Direct and Connect:Enterprise software (Connect:Direct for UNIX, Connect: Enterprise for UNIX, other transmission protocals (ftp, async, bisync), etc.

 

Job tasks will include testing as well as test results review; knowledge transfer, which includes monitoring knowledge transfer, Sterling Commerce product administration, and Sterling Commerce products and features (new and existing); file transmission architecture design and review; installation and configuration (i.e. netmaps, init parms, user files) of Sterling Commerce products; scripting (JCL and Kornshell); and notification/monitoring setup. This consultant will be expected to provide 24x7 processing schedule set up, 24x7 production support, and backup and restore process. This consultant will be the liaison to the application team using Sterling Commerce products, which will include helping to understand infrastructure as well as helping to write scripts (JCL and Kornshell). The Connect:Direct/Connect:Enterprise Support Consultant will also write documentation (requirements, design, process and procedure).

 

Qualifications for this position include the following

- 4 years of administration and production support experience with Connect:Enterprise (and/or mailbox) and Connect:Direct, both mainframe and UNIX (AIX)

- 1 year of experience with Connect:Enterprise Gateway or SPC as well as Connect architecture design

- Experience with Korn Shell, JCL and SNMP

- Excellent written and verbal communications

- Experience with other transmission protocols i.e. ftp, async and bisync

- Experience utilizing SNMP with Connect products

- Experience with high availability implementations (Veritos clustering a plus)

-Trading partner setup experience

- Connect:Enterprise and Connect:Direct production support

- Experience with MQSeries, CICS, Basic IP networking and SNA is a bonus
