Consulting Engineer

Interact with the broader development community to analyze project designs from a performance perspective and provide technical direction and suggestions.
Work with the Performance Engineering team to provide in-depth technology expertise and knowledge.
Coordinate with the quality assurance team to ensure all steps of the development process are completed in a manner that creates and maintains high quality systems.
Produce thorough performance testing plans, and analyze performance testing results to ensure and maintain high quality systems.
Document work to facilitate communication with other members of the technical and business teams.
Assist in the development of operational and performance management systems and tools.
Work as a member of a project team to assess team dependencies, estimate work effort, and report status.
Participate in the resolution of challenging and demanding problems within the production environment.  This includes the use of problem-solving skills to identify the source of challenging and complex issues.

Qualifications/competencies required:
Excellent C experience is required.  Hands-on experience with a variety of related technologies is expected, including TCP/IP, pthreads, file I/O, and memory management.
Excellent Java experience is required.  Hands-on experience with a variety of J2EE technologies is expected, including JSP, Java Servlets, JDBC, JMX and preferably Java code instrumentation.
C application troubleshooting and optimization
JVM and Java-based application optimization and monitoring
Excellent problem solving skills are required.
Excellent documentation skills are required.
Experience in Performance Engineering is required.
Experience writing basic SQL statements is required.
Basic knowledge of OO design is required
Experience with RedHat Linux is required.
Experience with high-volume, high availability systems is required.
Experience with XML is required.
Strong experience with Microsoft Office products is required.
Working knowledge of Apache desirable.
Working knowledge of Tomcat desirable.
Experience with LoadRunner is desirable.
Experience with DB2 or Oracle databases is desirable.

Good oral communication skills are required.  Excellent written communication skills are required.
Typical background includes a BS/MS in Computer Science or related technical field. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of application development experience, including a record of successful deployments in a production environment.  Experience in high volume transactional technology platforms highly desired.
