Consulting Services Manager - High Availability Solutions (iSeries)

Headquartered in San Antonio, TX, we have over 550 employees in over 38 states.  We currently have an exceptional opportunity for a hands-on Consulting Services Manager who has a deep understanding of High Availability solutions on the IBM System i (iSeries) platform. The primary responsibility of this role will be to manage service engagements in assigned practice area, and to manage the technical consultants providing those services to meet established revenue

and profitability objectives.  This role will involve both personally performing billable work and developing and leading a small group of consultants in various locations across the US. This position is a national role that could be based out of most major cities in the US, including but not limited to Dallas, Chicago, Portland, Houston, Atlanta, or Kansas City.

 



Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

√Manages service engagements by:

? Assisting the engagement team with developing service opportunities along with the scope of tasks needed, at the request of sales.  May solicit and use consultants and Product Managers for input, but maintains responsibility for all SOWs and quotes

? Working with Services Coordinators to establish resource schedules

? Working with Sirius? Contracts Department and Services Coordinators to assure that contracts are in place prior to any engagement

? Assuring that Sirius? Service Engagement methodology is adhered to and executed for each services engagement

? Overall responsibility for all problem management escalated above the consultant level

? Maintaining an awareness of status of all active/planned/ and recently finished engagements

? Interfacing with Sirius? sales personnel/management and customer personnel to answer questions and/or provide vital information on engagements

√Oversees the technical consultants responsible for performing services by:

? Coordinating appropriate vendor and product training to ensure department members are current on product knowledge and that they are receiving the appropriate certifications

? Providing consultant with necessary resources for technical assistance while in an engagement

? Working with each consultant to find best way to achieve maximum billing efficiency

? Ensuring that the team maintains an up-to-date awareness of industry trends, activities, and advancements and attends appropriate industry/product conventions and seminars

? Hiring, training, developing, and appraising staff effectively. Taking corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consulting with Human Resources as appropriate.

? Creating a development plan for each employee containing specific attainment objectives and maintaining that development plan with the employee on an on-going basis

? Developing with the employee an annual training plan and assuring that plan is met

? Working with the technical recruiting team to hire qualified staff according to company procedure

? Performing all personnel tasks in a timely manner, including (but not limited to) appraisals, salary reviews, and counseling

√Manages third-party subcontracting relationships and engagements by:

? Identifying and recommending to Director of Consulting Services third-party firms and individuals for inclusion on Approved Subcontractor List

? Recommending Approved Subcontractors to Reps and customers when there is no available Sirius? consultant for an opportunity

√Manages unit revenue and profitability objectives by:

? Developing, in conjunction with the Director of Consulting Services, business and strategic plans for the unit.

? Working with Sirius? sales to determine marketability of current service offerings and to develop new service offerings

? Work with Sirius? marketing to produce marketing deliverables for existing and new service offerings

? Ensuring accurate reporting of monthly forecast data

? Monitoring and analyzing monthly revenue data, and communicating results and strategies to appropriate channels

? Working closely with Sirius? accounting and billing personnel to assure accurate reporting of time, expenses and to assure correct customer billing

? Working with Sirius? Accounting to address any appropriate collection/AR issues

? Preparing and conducting Unit Status Reviews for Sirius? management to summarize current revenue and personnel status and delineate action items which need to be accomplished to meet unit objectives.

 







Job Specifications:







? Bachelor?s degree in MIS, Computer Science or related area or equivalent related industry experience





? Strong understanding of High Availability solutions available for the IBM System i (iSeries) platform, including replication products such as MIMIX, Vision, or iTera

? Strong understanding of the IBM System i (iSeries) platform, both hardware and software

? Experienced in the practice of providing High Availability/Disaster Recovery assessments and solution requirements





? Outstanding oral and written communication skills

? Ability to articulate strong product knowledge to customers and staff

? Ability to speak with enthusiasm and confidence in order to retain customers and garner respect of staff

? Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills

? Outstanding verbal acuity and a professional image

? Effective problem solving, collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills a must

? Proficient at conflict resolution

? Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

? Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

Travel Requirements:

? Travel to various client locations ? quantity varies by location (Approximately 50%)

? Current driver?s license required
