Contract Sr. Business Systems Analyst - Fixed Income/Equity, 6+months!

Our client, a financial services firm in downtown Boston, has the need for a Contract Sr. Business Systems Analyst starting out initially on a 6 month contract with potential to renew on subsequent projects. This is a project involving enhancements to an existing Fixed Income system to correct efficiency problems as well as building new systems for the operations group.

As Business Analyst you will have a leadership role in shaping new products and releases to meet trader's needs, as well as end customer's needs.

The candidate will be responsible for turning the business initiative and strategic directives into well thought out and reasoned business analysis and requirements documentation.  The successful candidate will work with business and technical groups to transform their ideas and suggestions into structured work-flows and systems requirements.  The candidate will shape and in most cases transform rudimentary requests into artifacts that will assist the group in establishing business cases and define the priority of their initiatives.  Use Cases will be used to derive requirements, generate test plans and track implementation.

Skill requirements:
* 5+ years experience focusing on requirements gathering and business analysis in software development environment.
* Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required.
* Knowledge of securities or brokerage industry required (ideally fixed income or equity trading products - straight thru processing, trades in general, clearing and settling).
* This is a mainframe/Cobol environment.
