Contract Systems Administrator
NATURE
OF POSITION:
Perform upper level network and systems engineering duties and provide Tier 4 advanced technical support. Support technical solutions for business resumption and disaster recovery sites that meet architectural standards developed by the Information Technology division. Responsible for the successful support of both sites and for knowledge transfer back to Infrastructure department staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
? Deploy Information Technology Disaster Recovery and Business Resumption Sites including but not limited to: installing of hardware and software, systems configuration, testing, and training.
o Perform complex network and systems analysis, design, implementation, and testing for assigned projects
o Maintain detailed task plans and technical approaches for projects using Microsoft Project and other tools as deemed necessary
o Perform physical design of network consisting of precise physical drawings and detailed implementation plans
o Coordinate with commercial vendors for products and services as necessary
o Manage systems and network security by assigning security access according to established guidelines and procedures
o Recommend infrastructure and architectural changes to the Infrastructure Manager
o Perform duties and special projects as directed by the Manager of Technology Infrastructure
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
& ABILITIES:
Must possess:
? Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems including: All flavors of Windows: (2000 and 2003 Server, XP Professional)
? Demonstrate advanced knowledge of major Microsoft services and applications: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, CA/PKI, Clustering, ODBC, DFS, IIS (WWW and SMTP Services), Group Policy, IAS (Radius), MSCS and NLB, Remote Desktop/Terminal Services, Exchange, SQL, Virtual Server, SharePoint Services and Portal 2003, Live Communications Server, SMS, and WUS/SUS;
? Demonstrate knowledge of Cisco router and switching, Checkpoint firewall, LAN/WAN administration, Tier 4 advanced troubleshooting, VPN (Cisco and Microsoft), and VLAN/trunking technologies;
? Demonstrate basic administration knowledge of IBM AS/400 and be able to work with applications development staff to define, implement, and test redundancy projects from the authorities AS/400 systems;
? Extensive knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies, such as: Frame Relay, T1, ISDN, Ethernet, and Broadband Cable/DSL;
? Checkpoint NG or later administration and management experience;
? Experience with routing protocols, such as: RIP, RIP2, OSPF, IGRP, EIGRP, and BGP4; Experience with network protocols, such as: TCP/IP and SNA; Experience with network analysis tools, such as: EtherReal, Sniffer, Net-Xray, RMON, and MON; Experience with network management software, such as: Cisco Works;
? Knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies including Fiber Channel storage;
? Demonstrated ability to enhance the knowledge levels of co-workers by utilizing effective communication techniques and providing quality training materials;
? Ability to write and debug basic shell scripts and create simple system-level programs
? Ability to perform administrator duties when required;
? Self-starter able to organize, manage time effectively, and prioritize work;
? Strong customer service skills
? Ability to train IT Infrastructure staff on deployed solutions;
? Ability to work independently and have good problem solving skills;
? Ability to work non-standard hours;
? Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, in a positive, diplomatic and friendly manner to users, co-workers, and the general staff; and,
? Ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds essential
Prefer:
? Experience in the implementation and/or support of multi-site data centers and disaster recovery plans
? Experience with: BlackBerry Enterprise Server, GFI Mail protection products, Symantec Antivirus, Veritas backup solutions, EMS storage management software
EQUIPMENT USED:
Telephone; personal computer; computer hardware equipment, calculator; photocopy and fax machine.
EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION:
Minimum of three years general hands-on experience in information systems or related fields installing and maintaining computer networking systems appropriate to this position. BSCS/BSEE degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience required, plus certifications MCSA required and MCSE preferred. College course work in statistical analysis and general business is preferred.
PHYSICAL
ENVIRONMENT:
The incumbent in this position will perform the essential functions of the position primarily in an office environment. Must have sight and the ability to use computer, with or without assisting devices. Must be able to lift a computer (up to 40 lbs.) and bend and crawl under desks for computer connects and disconnects. Must have own transportation to and from CHFA and both BCP and ITDR sites.
