Conversion Analyst

Primary Objective:

Responsible for ensuring all assigned projects are deployed in accordance with the standards set in the Thomson Elite?s conversion methodology. Directly responsible for the successful completion of all conversions in a timely and cost effective manner.

 

**This position can be based anywhere in the United States. This individual will work from a home office.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible to develop in conjunction with the client and Thomson*Elite project manager the conversion strategy for assigned projects to transfer data from a legacy system to Elite or from a pre-existing Elite database to Elite.  Includes:

 

? Attendance at the conversion strategy and data mapping meetings with the project manager and conversion programmer to provide expertise in determining the appropriate conversion strategy for assigned project as well as the scope of this portion of the project. Includes:

 

? Review of clients requirements including

o Timing

o Data to be converted

o Client resources available

o Outside resources required

? Review of Elite standard conversion programs in conjunction with Client requirements to determine best approach for conversion

? Facilitate data mapping session with client and conversion team. Includes

? Prepare agenda for meeting in conjunction with project manager based on preliminary discussions

? Ensure all appropriate documentation and handouts delivered to client and conversion team prior to meeting

?Conduct data mapping meeting

? Review with client and conversion programmer all required logic for conversion programs including conversion logic for items such as field to field data transfers, ?old? to ?new lists, transactional data loads, requirements for billing and payment history conversion, related time and cost loads as well as other areas

? Ensure results of data mapping meeting are clearly documented and communicated to conversion team and project manager for appropriate sign offs

? Document conversion strategy and distribute to project manager to form part of the standard project planning documentation. Includes:

o Method of data transfers

o Data to be converted

o Detailed data maps and related documents to support conversion logic

o Critical dates and relates sign offs

o Task Lists and related resource assignments

o Any other pertinent information

?Facilitate the completion of the conversion (test and/or final). Includes:

o Regular status calls with client and conversion team to follow-up on task lists to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner. Prepare updates for distribution to project team

oEnsure database and extracts are ready for start of conversion. Includes:

?All required setups are completed

?All identified tables for unloading have been clearly identified and provided to conversion programmer,

? Review all extract files on client system to ensure they are complete

?Ensure remote access or onsite direct system access issues have been remedied prior to conversion

o Review and validate the output from the conversion programs

? Review updated conversion programmers document for issue identification and discuss with conversion team

?  Review counts and transactional totals from programmer to compare to those provided by client and determine reasons for discrepancies

? Perform scripted data validation procedures according to the established Elite conversion standards

?Prepare documentation of conversion results including balancing reports and present to client and Thomson*Elite project manager with clear identification of issues and items for follow-up

? Responsible to assimilate lessons learned information from each project to conversion team leader to ensure standards are updated appropriately

 

Minimum Requirements ? Knowledge and Skills:

?  4 year degree preferably in computer science, accounting, finance or business

?  General understanding of knowledge of 4gl or similar programming language

?  Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL

?  Ability to work under tight schedules and under pressure

?  Ability to work on multiple tasks within same time frame

?  Ability to work well across departments and skill levels

?  Outstanding organizational and time management skillsAbility to travel 70%
