DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR I
Database Administrator I for the City of Albuquerque Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Project
The City of Albuquerque is looking for strong Information Technology candidates who can help the City transition from outdated mainframe systems to a PeopleSoft ERP environment. We have a wide variety of positions available. Successful candidates will work on a major project to implement and support PeopleSoft ERP Financial, HR/Payroll, and Budgeting applications. These positions will provide responsible assistance in facilitating the introduction and maintenance of management information services for City operations; perform a variety of systems analysis duties in the design, implementation and maintenance of management information systems and supporting computer hardware and software applications; and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to the assigned areas of responsibility.

POSITION SUMMARY:
To create database structures that consolidate the conceptual, logical and physical models of data stored by the City; to improve the quality, accuracy and integrity of information and data resources; to develop and maintain an enterprise-level, inter-departmental data model consisting of a subject data model and a conceptual entity relationship model; implement policies and standards for data modeling, conceptual database design, as well as data naming and meta data documentation standards; install, maintain, monitor and tune database management systems to ensure optimal performance; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in information systems, computer science or a related field, plus five (5) years of database administration or computer programming experience. Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
Principles and practices of Oracle or Microsoft SQL server database administration
Perform various Oracle or Microsoft SQL server database administration functions
Principles and practices of data administration
Principles and practices of software installation
Methods and techniques of data modeling and conceptual database design
Methods and techniques of applications development and common development languages
Monitor and troubleshoot database performance
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Principles and practices of database administration
Methods and techniques of database design and administration
Operational characteristics of applicable database management system, information systems and mainframe environments
Principles and practices of project management
