DB2 CONTENT MANAGER ADMINISTRATOR

I.  Job Summary

 

Responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the IBM DB2 Content Manager & Content Manager OnDemand environments. Management and administration of application and system software. Develops work plans, schedules, and status reports.  Conducts productive meetings. Must adhere to quality standards and provide technical and analytical input during problem solving activities. Recommends solutions to problems and communicates status of specific problems or projects to management.  Provides technical support on systems and application technologies. Troubleshoots complex technical problems.

 II. Essential/Key Areas of Responsibility

 

?  Focus on Content Manager administration for all instances (e.g. production, development, QA, demo, training)

?  Participates in on-going assessment and upgrading of systems, hardware and storage systems.

?  Works with other technical resources (system administration, database, networking, etc.) and provides technical input to system and infrastructure designs

?  Maintain technology expertise, keeping current with evolving systems, storage and middleware technologies

?  Provide ideas and feedback for analysis and design reviews

?  Serves as a contact for vendors of equipment and services

?  Disseminate information on any problem or potential business impact

?  Establishes effective communication with other departments in order to reduce duplication of efforts during large technology projects

?  Works with technical resources to ensure that technical related activities support the strategic objectives of the company

 

 III.  Educational & Experience Requirements

 

Bachelor?s Degree or equivalent work experience with at least 3-5 years content manager administration and management experience.

 

 

IV. Competencies ? Security Actively participates in the development, support and maintenance of all aspects of security practices within your area of responsibility including assisting with the implementation and enforcement of system security policies

 

? Ensure process and procedures are in place to enhance security and controls.

 

? Collaborates and communicates with other areas to stay informed of changes and developments that may require Information Security intervention as well as keeping other departments informed of security initiatives that may affect other business units.

o Working knowledge of IBM DB2 Content Manager & OnDemand

? Basic knowledge of Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM), LDAP, and System Managed Storage as it relates to Content Manager

 

o Intel and RISC based h/w systems and associated Operating systems

?  AIX

?  IBM pSeries

?  Understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g. LPAR)

?  Linux

?  Windows Server 2003

 

o Middleware/EIA

?  Application server technologies

?  IBM WebSphere Application Server

?  Apache

?  Apache TomCat

 

o DataBase

?  Basic understanding of database technologies, particularly DB2

 

o Storage

?  Fiber Channel,ISCSI, Network based Storage subsystems

?  SAN infrastructure

?  Fiber channel configuration and protocols

 Basic Skills

 

o Advanced knowledge of tools and utilities used in administration and management of simple and complex system infrastructures ? particularly IBM DB2 Content Manager application environments and multiple file system structuresAble to participate in implementing virtualization technologies and performance optimizationsExperience with SAN and NAS technologiesAbility to collect, view and analyze system performance data and troubleshooting complex system related problemsKnowledge of change/configuration management processes and system
