DBA - Database Administrator to $91k - Financial Industry!
Job Description: This is a great opportunity for an ambitious DBA to gain invaluable experience in database administration in the lucrative financial industry! Company is a leading hedge fund and portfolio manager in fixed income, futures, currency, commodities, and global equities. Responsibilities include:
. Perform ongoing database administration maintenance, performance tuning, installation and backup/recovery of Oracle and Sybase databases running on Sun Solaris servers.
. Script and implement monitoring systems, respond to alerts, troubleshoot as necessary.
. Provide 24x7 support as part of a rotational schedule.
. Manage data flow between development, QA and production.
. Be involved in data modeling and design of data warehouse and data loading.
. Work closely Software Development to coordinate product release
Minimum Requirements:
. MUST have at least TWO years of financial/banking industry experience.
. Thorough understanding of the database management system architecture . Database backup and recovery experience required.
. Experience in performance tuning and regular database maintenance.
. Experience with large size data warehouses (Partitioning, indexing, star schema designs).
. Good system design and analysis skills.
. Oracle database experience with PL/SQL scripting and SQL skill sets is required.
. Sybase database administration experience is a definite plus
. Understanding of the Solaris/Unix and NT platforms, operating system and networking
. Proficiency in UNIX shell programming is essential
. Knowledge of Business Objects is a definite plus
. Good written and verbal communications skills
. Willing to take the ownership for assigned tasks
