DIRECTOR, CHEMISTRY INFORMATICS

Job Responsibilities:

Leadership of Chemistry Informatics group, whose mission is to develop and
support the specialist informatics tools used by the Drug Discovery Chemistry
community at BMS. Line supervision of 10 to 14 scientists technologists with
chemistry and or IT backgrounds and diverse skills including business process
analysis, application design, programming using a range of development tools,
data &amp application administration, chemoinformatics, user support and
training. Provide technical leadership to support development projects within
the scope of the group, including data integration &amp visualization
tools, ISIS application support and administration, chemical registry,
combichem informatics, electronic laboratory notebooks, support of external
scientific partners and a wide range of other systems and applications.
Accountable for development, alignment, communication and implementation of a
long term strategic vision for informatics for Drug Discovery Chemistry,
including the integration of this vision with the broader BMS informatics
environment. Management of relationships with key internal technology groups
and external vendors of specialist chemistry informatics applications. Reports
to Executive Director, Discovery Informatics & Automation.

Job Requirements/Education:

Ability to build strategic relationships with senior leadership of chemistry
community and work effectively with chemistry leadership to define and
implement an informatics strategy based on achieving tangible business results.
Detailed and practical knowledge of broad range of informatics technologies as
applied to medicinal, analytical and computational chemistry. Strong leadership
skills, including direct supervision of senior technical scientific staff,
matrix leadership of multi disciplinary teams, and program management. Ability
to effectively work with other members of the informatics organization to
ensure solutions aligned with overall informatics strategy and architecture.
10+ years industrial experience including a significant track record of
leadership of chemistry informatics in a drug discovery environment. Medicinal
Chemistry experience highly desirable. Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills. PhD, MSc in Chemistry or Information Technology. May be
located in Princeton, NJ or Wallingford, CT, with frequent travel between
sites.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
