DNS Systems Administrator
This position will require a thorough understanding of DNS, particularly with respect to the BIND nameserver software. The candidate will work on a small team to maintain Rackspace's production DNS infrastructure, as well as research, plan and implement upgrades to the system. Additional responsibilities include responding to customer inquiries regarding DNS policies and procedures, maintaining NTP timeservers, and being on-call 24/7. The candidate must be able to work from our San Antonio office.
Required Skills:
Required Technical Qualifications
. Operational knowledge of the DNS protocol, including the differences
between authoritative and recursive queries
. Experience with BIND and related tools
. Strong background in Linux and networking
. Scripting skills in Ruby, Shell, Python or Perl
. Experience with revision control systems such as CVS and Subversion
Desirable Skills
. Knowledge of OSPF and the Quagga Routing Suite
. Ability to create and deploy Debian packages
. Experience with OpenNMS and understanding of SNMP
