Data Architect

Job Description:
Provide database architecture and engineering support to a dynamic, large, multi-year, government program. Successful candidate must be able to conceptualize, define, and develop complex data architecture solutions for large enterprise wide applications. Candidate will be responsible for: analyzing / developing enterprise conceptual data models and associated business rules, analyzing legacy logical and physical data models, developing data migration strategies for retiring legacy systems into modern information systems, developing logical and physical data models for modern information systems, and analyzing and designing data sizing and scaling approaches and distribution alternatives and trade-offs. Candidate will work with the government to ensure that the solution satisfies their requirements. Finally the candidate will coordinate with the necessary system element data architects to ensure integration with other data architecture activities.

Required Skills:
6+ years technical experience in the database engineering discipline. Candidate must have experience supporting the definition of a data architecture for a large enterprise system. Candidate must have previous conceptual, logical and physical data modeling experience: previous Conceptual Data Modeling tasks should include working with Subject Matter Experts to determine enterprise entities and relationships; previous Logical Data Modeling tasks should include determining logical entities, data associations, and key attributes; previous Physical data modeling tasks should include defining the overall topology of the physical database, physical storage, and partitioning allocations. Candidate must have strong communication/customer intimacy skills., Must be able to obtain a Secret level security clearance., The following criteria define the required experience within RDBMS technology: 5+ years experience on relational database design and engineering including traditional Entity-Relationship Modeling, and database programming methods, - 5+ years experience with physical database design and programming considerations, including data layout, normalization, key definition, and performance tuning, - Demonstrated experience (3+ years) supporting the development of a data architecture for a large-scale enterprise-wide database system, - Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in conjunction with excellent customer intimacy skills, - Demonstrated experience developing a data migration strategy and successfully implementing the strategy.

Desired Skills:
Experience in building Conceptual and Logical Data Models for Large-Scale Organizations. Knowledge of semantic relationships as it relates to Common Information Models. Experience with the following tools are a plus: Design tools - Rational Rose or Erwin.
