Data Architect - One year engagement in Twin Cities

We're looking for candidates for a one year position .... 

 

Position Activities:

Help to establish and maintain conventions and standards related to data approaches.  Cultivate strong relationship with DBAs, developers, and business people.  Serve as an expert to developers in the understanding of data universes.  Help to create and manage vocabularies across various business units. 

Required Skills/Attributes:
Hands On, not Ivory Tower
Mastery of SQL, particularly T-SQL
Must be able to carry on a conversation about the tradeoffs between various approaches to managing data
Working knowledge of XSDs, and XSD design tradeoffs
Discussing tradeoffs between database normalization and demoralization likely gets you excited
Ability to keep large quantities of ?state? in memory
Proven track record of improving the lives of developers and business people.


Desired Skills/Attributes:
Pragmatism over Dogma
Likely an opinionated, passionate person, especially when it comes to how data is created and organized. Can debate the use of triggers, stored procs, and what the blurring of the lines between the data- and application-tiers means to you.
Understands the differences between hub-and-spoke and point-to-point integration models, and what that means for data.
Fluent in agile software development processes, including continuous integration, unit testing
Healthcare experience preferred
