Position overview:

Must be a U.S. Citizen with Security Clearance level Q / Top Secret preferred. EDS is currently seeking a Data Center  Operations Manager to support our client the Department of Energy at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory at the  University of California. The Data center environment consists of;

?300 servers; Unix/Windows/Linux

?3 Linux clusters

?122 oracle databases

?4 segmented networks

?3 server rooms

?130Tb of data utilizing Hitachi SAN and Network appliance NAS devices

 

By 2009 they expect to be managing 1 Pb and will be adding 500 Tb each subsequent year.  This environment will grow to approximately 450 servers and will require 24x7 support.

 

Skills Required:

?BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or scientific discipline or equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.

?7 + years management experience in a medium to large IT data center environment

?7+ years working in an IT data center or IT Operations capacity

?ITIL certification; demonstrated performance to application of and adherence to ITIL procedures?Strong knowledge of data center electrical systems (UPS, PDU, generators, etc.), knowledge of HVAC and fire-suppression systems, knowledge of networking and data communications fundamentals and project management skills. Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal, excellent customer-service orientationKnowledge in Unix Platform (SUN Solaris preffered) and Windows.
