Database Admin II

SUMMARY:   Responsible for activities related to the administration of computerized databases. Responsible for activities related to the integration of data among the company's systems.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION - Bachelors degree in computer science, Math or technical training equivalent.
EXPERIENCE - Five to seven years job related experience.
SKILLS - Complete understanding of this job and sound knowledge of related jobs is required to perform effectively. Knowledge is reviewed and kept up to date through training and study. Able to work on complex projects independently.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS -Regularly operates under deadlines and may be subjected to extreme workloads.  Weekend and after hours work as necessary.  Must be available for on-call rotation.  Some travel is required.
DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS - A+, MCP, MCSE, +I, MCDBA

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establishes and implements data base policies, procedures and standards, and ensures their conformance with IS goals and objectives.
Implements and maintains complex databases.
Implements and tests programs and procedures to integrate information among systems.
Works closely with Programming Staff and Network Support Staff for implementation and maintain of corporate databases.
Ensures that databases are implemented efficiently and are kept tuned for optimum performance and reliability.
Maintains data integrity and makes sure data security procedures are implemented and enforced.
Contributes to, and is responsible for meeting established project timelines.
Assists in presentation of information to management resulting in purchase and installation of hardware and software.
Tests and implements new technologies.
Maintains currency in new developments and technology.
 Provides training to end-users and departmental staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Provides prompt, courteous service to all internal and external customers.
Prioritizes and addresses customer needs and demands in a professional manner, providing follow-up and developing cooperative relationships.
Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve customer service, work processes and financial performance. Assists in design and implementation of quality improvement initiatives on departmental and organizational levels.
Assists team members in completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service.  Orient new co-workers and actively support team development.
Provides written documentation for all aspects of database design and maintenance.
