Database Administrator and Support Engineer
The department is responsible for providing compelling value through efficient and timely support and application development services helping the individual needs of Enterprise Risk Assessment and Internal Audit.
The Database Administrator and Support Engineer performs a support role in database administration for all Enterprise Risk Assessment and Internal Audit systems. This includes hardware and software maintenance, backups, implementation and support functions as well as SQL code deployment.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide operational database administration support and physical database performance tuning efforts.
- Write system support documentation.
- Working with business clients and other infrastructure groups to resolve business and database issues, formulate / define documentation.
- Defining and controlling Internal Audit database systems to ensure high availability, as well as timely, efficient and economical access to the contained information. Provide adequate safeguards against data corruption or inconsistency. All these tasks involve researching the source of requested data and reconciling the data to ensure integrity and accuracy.
- Provides operational database administration support.
- Supports new database application release activities.
- Supports existing database application release activities.
- Supports Ongoing Database Performance Monitoring and Tuning.
A successful candidate will have:
- Mastery of the SQL Script language and be able to tune SQL code for optimal database performance.
- Three plus years of significant RDBMS experience (preferably in SQL Server).
- Two plus years of administering/maintaining a relational database environment (preferably in SQL Server).
- Experience with local and wide area networks, which interface with systems such as: Microsoft NT, AS/400's.
- Experience in DBMS support in a Client/Server environment.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Language such as: T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Views, etc.
- Strong documentation and language skill.
