GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for designing, implementing and documenting an ETL solution for a large corporation. He is also responsible for maintaining a farm of database servers, which includes the configuration of replication and clustering, backup and archival of data as well as performance monitoring and tuning. Responsibility also includes optimization of server configuration and queries. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Support existing database systems, including feature enhancements, bug fixes, and performance improvements.  Optimize Production databases, Reporting databases, and ETL processes Document schema and structure Document, Administer, enhance current ETL programming. Monitor database health, perform maintenance, ensure proper replication and backup Develop future database and ETL design strategy consistent with Sento's overall product strategy Works closely with reporting team, assist in the development and implementation of Sento's reporting strategy. Train assistant DBA in appropriate skills Program ad hoc scripting needs to assist in server administration and monitoring Develop creative solutions to deliver on-time, on-budget results Ensure that the highest quality standards and best practices are met in database administration Prioritize time to achieve long and short-term goals without supervision. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested Maintain a level of consistently high level of database RAS (Reliability, Accessibility and Serviceability).

 

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Understanding of the operational discipline and rigor necessary to achieve database uptime of 99.99% 5+ years RDBMS modeling and performance tuning 3+ years Perl programming 3+ years experience with MySQL (MyISAM and InnoDB tables). Other Scripting experience (bash, c, etc) Extensive experience with ETL (extract, transformation, and load) solutions Experience with commercial ETL solutions such as Hummingbird is a plus Extensive experience with OLAP/OLTP databases in a web environment Experience with Crystal and Business Objects helpful Understands server and query performance optimization Experience with replication and clustering Experience with Unicode is a plus Strong technical writing skills Experience managing and maintaining databases and servers.  (Includes proper server configuration and database maintenance.) Oracle 9i/10 experience is preferred MS SQL 2000/2005 experience is preferred Experience with SQL interfaces (i.e. ODBC, ADO, OLE) Knowledge and experience with Delphi 6 or 7 Object oriented programming BDE ADOKnowledge and experience withXML DTD XSL SOAPExtensive Linux experience (Red Hat, SuSe)

 

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

B.S. or M.S degree in Computer Science preferred.  Desired 5-10 years experience in Database and web interactions.  Must have previous database and ETL experience. Must be able to work in a fast paced 24x7x365 environment, and be prepared to support the database environemnts on a "on-call" basis. Candidate must be willing to work off hours and weekends, as the business requires.  Preference will be given to candidates who have database experience with open source and service oriented architectures.
