 Position Summary

 

This position will have overall responsibility for the administration of Sirius? corporate databases.  Specific areas of responsibility will include, but not be limited to, database installations, updates/patches/upgrades, tuning, performance monitoring, replication, back-ups, security, user management, and resource management. This position will work closely with our internal application development team to resolve database-related development issues and ensure a reliable and secure development environment.  In addition, this position will resolve level II help desk trouble tickets and responds to escalation requests as directed by management.

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Maintain the availability and integrity of the corporate database environment:Provide primary support for the company?s production and test database environments, maintaining the availability and integrity of corporate data  Plan, execute and maintain database installations, upgrades, service packs, and security patches  Provide database performance tuning, analysis, replication, and optimization Monitor database capacity and performance, to include identifying potential data volume growths, assessing current hardware and software performance and capacity loads, and proposing appropriate solutions  Migrate and execute SQL stored procedures and scripts Work closely with the internal application development team to define business entities, rules, relationships, attributes, elements, and various other data modeling and data base objects Provide technical support to the application development team, and assist in the research and resolution of database ? related development issuesConsult with the application development team on the proper use of databases to ensure their integrity Participate in establishing and implementing database backup and recovery policies and practices  Participate in establishing and implementing appropriate database disaster recovery plans  Participate in establishing and implementing appropriate database security plans, to include maintaining user accounts and ensuring proper levels of user access

 Knowledge and Skills

 3+ years experience as a database administrator in an enterprise production environment, to include supporting back-end databases for major ERP and/or CRM systems, such as Lawson, Siebel, Oracle Financials, or SAP 3+ years experience administering MS SQL Server 2000 databases, to include supporting full project life cycle application development efforts in a SQL environmentExperience with MS SQL Server 2005 a plus Strong knowledge of database programming concepts including Structured Query Language, stored procedures, and triggers  Previous application development experience a plus MCDBA certification a plus, but not required  Must have demonstrated ability to adapt technical solutions to complex business situations and strategiesAbility to investigate problems, analyze information, and reach logical conclusions 

? Must be able to work independently and with little supervision

? Ability to learn and support new applications

? Strong oral and written communication skills

? Excellent organizational and follow up skills

?  Ability to work flexible hours a plus

 

Education:

 

? A Bachelor?s degree in Information Technology or a related field and three (3) or more years of IT systems analysis experience, OR

?  Any similar combination of education and experience
