Database Administrator II

Our Bristol West team is looking for a Database Administrator for our Independence, Ohio office location. This position is responsible for providing Database Administration support for production and development Oracle & SQL-Server database environments, with emphasis on the installation, configuration and administration of high-availably databases.

 

Qualified candidates will possess:  Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.  Continued Technical education or certifications in the areas of database administration, analysis and development preferred.  Pass the BRW internal certification courses for position (New employees must complete within required timeframe). 3-5 years database administration experience with installation, configuration and database security in Oracle 9i/10g and SQL-Server environments preferred. Experience with Linux operating system, utilities and Shell scripting. Experience with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) and recovery techniques. Experience with Oracle Real Application Clustering (RAC).  Experience with SQL Navigator and SQL-Server Enterprise Manager.  Experience with SQL-Server Database design. Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM). Experience with Oracle physical database design, background processes and RDBMS utilities. Experience with SQL & PL-SQL, including optimization and tuning techniques. Exposure to Data Guard and high-availability solutions in a clustered environment.Familiarity with IT audit controls and metrics.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Superior organization skills and the ability to effectively prioritize. Exceptional customer service skills. Ability to adapt and improvise when challenged with obstacles. Experience working with remote project teams preferred. Ability to adopt and manage change. Proven ability to produce comprehensive analysis backed up by data collection and testing. Insurance (Property & Casualty) experience preferred. Occasional travel may be required.
