This position would be based in the Boston office and could involve travel to some other offices from time to time. Position requires someone who is good at prioritizing.

The successful candidate would have the following attributes:

A minimum of 3 years in depth experience managing SQL2000 server in a finance system environment, including architecture, configuration, database design and security, monitoring and performance tuning.
IIS and Windows 2000/Active Directory skills (i.e. relating to client-access for the SQL environment).
Ability to travel to other ERM offices, if required, and work outside standard hours on a needs basis (ie across international time zones).
A minimum of 5 years experience in the IT systems field, with in depth practical understanding of network systems administration based on TCP/IP and IP switches/routers; LAN & WAN; firewalls; domains & security; internet protocols; Windows NT; tape backup systems.
In depth technical experience with MS Windows 2000 and MS Internet Explorer desktop operating system including HTML and MDAC systems components.
Experience with Crystal Reports would be very useful.
Excellent communication skills - both oral and written, with ability to create clear and succinct systems reference documentation.
Diplomacy skills, with organization savvy and sensitivity to local cultures
Self motivated, with good organizational skills, and ability to prioritize.
Long-term project oriented, completer/finisher with an eye to detail.
Works comfortably as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

To take ownership of the core systems installation and manage day to day operations of ERMs new mission-critical Enterprise Global Management system (GMS), BST in a pure MS SQL/IIS environment as described above. The system is to be hosted in an off-site location in Boston and is accessed in a pure web-based environment using VPN networks. The 3 year rollout has just recently been completed with all ERM Offices worldwide are now live. Presently we are undertaking an upgrade to the latest version of the software and heavily involved in the server relocation from London to Boston due for completion mid October.

The person in this position will work closely with 2 other SQL DBAs, based in the London office to cover the European time zones and Sydney to cover the APAC time zones. All 3 DBAs work alongside a GMS core team and other Group IT professionals (AD & Network Lead/Analysts). Inevitably this will involve contact with individual ERM offices and their respective IT staff in supporting and improving their systems (network topology, schema etc) for use with GMS.

Issues will need to be tracked so that systems are continually improved and streamlined. The successful candidate will also be responsible to ensure the routine systems checks are carried out, monitoring security and resolving systems issues.

The person in this position will work closely with other ERM staff involved with the project, including existing systems staff, manage third party contacts for maintenance of the system and technical consultants that will advise on architecture issues. The role will report in to the Systems Manager in London who is responsible to ensure the system performs effectively for ERM's worldwide staff.
