Database Conversion Developer
Database Conversion Developer
Our client, a financial services company in downtown Chicago, needs a Database Developer to assist in a conversion project.
The consultant will be a member of the Investment Management migration team. As a migration team member the candidate will work with others tasked with migrating our current portfolio accounting database and custom objects from Sybase to SQL Server.
Experience with database migrations/upgrades as well as exposure to portfolio accounting systems is essential. Sybase to SQL Server and PORTIA are highly desirable.
The candidate should have experience in the entire lifecycle of database migrations. In addition to the development of high-quality code, the candidate will be expected to produce deliverables which will include design documents, deployment procedures and support documentation. Candidates will also need very strong technical, analytic and communication skills. Thoroughness and attention to detail are critical to success.
Requirements:
Required Technical Skills
Scripting: Windows, Korne shell
ETL tools: DTS, BCP, Perl
Database Development: Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase
Scheduling Tools: Tivoli Workload Scheduler or other
Operating Systems: UNIX, Microsoft
Code Management Packages: VSS
Investment Industry Applications: PORTIA (preferable), Eagle STAR, Perform, Wilshire Axiom, CIM, etc.
Additional Technical Skills
Object Oriented programming: C# (preferable) or Java
Reporting Packages: Crystal Reports, Business Objects
Investment Industry Background:
Exposure to the Investment Management industry is highly preferable, including understanding of trading, investments, fund administration, or investment operations
